Overview

A military craft/gunboat belongs to the Sri Lanka Navy. The craft was known as the 'Weeraya" or P311 was in service from 1972 to2020.

After decommissioning, it was purposely sunken to be an artificial reef very next to the underwater museum built by Sri Lanka Navy. At the same place, another military craft (Jagatha - P315) was sunken. Both were adding value to the museum (Sculptures and pillars made of cement) attracting more divers. The location is known as Sandy Bay, Trincomalee. The gunboat was in service for nearly 50 years.
