District
Colombo
Depth
29.00–30.00 m
Vessel type
Utility Barge, Bulk Carrier

Overview

Skeletal wrecks of four (or more?) non-motorized utility barges. The wrecks relatively small (10-20m in length) and heavily damaged or deteriorated. They are located close to each other on seabed 30m deep.

It is possible that this is a dumping site that may have existed before 1976 (Owing to an account by commercial divers who saw these barges in 1976 while cleaning the hull of the North America)

This location may be unknkown to fishermen, as a significant population of coral groupers were observed in this area (and had not been fished out as of the observation date 15th November 2014)
