This shipwreck is positioned at a maximum depth of 9m, about 3km off the coast of Pasikudah, an area which is about 28km north from Batticaloa towards Trincomalee.

Since there are four wrecks found within the vicinity of one square kilometer of the said location, it has first been difficult to separately identify each ship. Hence, Mr. Darshana Jayawardene, who has made a publication on the sunk ships in Sri Lanka, has identified this place as ‘The Graveyard of Shipwrecks’. However, further investigations carried out by the Maritime Archaeology Unit of Galle (MAU) could identify the longest wreck as SS Gladys Moller (125m), the second-longest as the SS Amarillys (108m) and the third as SS Clan Lamont (94m). However, this wreck still remains unidentified among the wreck accumulation and hence, the MAU named this ship as ‘Pasikudah Iron Wreck’ in 2012.

Although this wreck is unidentified at the moment, further investigations of the MAU in 2019 has identified this as a Steam ship that belonged to the British period, due to the existence of a propeller and a shaft at the wreck site. Nevertheless, there are no signs of a boiler at the right position. Further, this iron vessel is heavily damaged and the parts are scattered on a large boulder reef. However, the bow (front) section and the stern (rear) section as well as a large anchor can be clearly observed at the site. The number of iron fragments scattered at the site is evident for the large-scale explosions that took place at the site for plundering iron, and few fragments of a boiler case are observed close to the hull of the middle section of the vessel. Accordingly, the MAU renamed the wreck as ‘Pasikudah Boiler Wreck No.4’ in 2019.
